     Directions

Indoor cannabis cultivation requires precise temperature and humidity control for a successful harvest, in addition to consuming a substantial amount of energy. Selection and size of the HVAC equipment for such a space must be accurate to ensure the optimal environment, in particular considering the increased use of greenhouses within the industry. OpenStudio is used to design and evaluate various grow facilities each facing different challenges, with the aim of creating custom, highly energy-efficient solutions.

Amanda Luketa is a Mechanical Engineer at Surna, a Boulder-based startup focusing on providing climate control solutions for the cannabis industry. She has a master’s degree from the University of Colorado and is a LEED AP specializing in Building Design and Construction. Her focus is on using simulation tools to design sustainable buildings and energy-efficient process- and comfort-cooling systems.
