Tim Ohno is an Associate Professor of Physics at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.  He is faculty advisor the CSM Solar Decathlon Team.   He received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park  in 1989.   His areas of research involve thin film cadmium telluride photovoltaics and surface and interface characterization.  He is director of the undergraduate energy minor, which addresses the scientific and technical aspects of energy production and use but also its broader social impacts.

Anthony Augelli and Zyed Ansary are both junior Mechanical and Materials Engineering students at the University of Denver. In the Ritchie School of Engineering, they work as student technicians in the machine shop under the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Lab Manager for research and faculty needs. At the beginning of their summer, both joined in on the UC Berkeley/DU Solar Decathlon 2017 team to help build a solar powered home on their campus before the competition this October where the team placed 3rd. They conducted some of the Energy and Heating/Cooling Analysis for their competition home which involved some interesting insulation techniques along with a low load Mitsubishi Mini-split plus Zehdner HRV system.

Please join us as the School of Mines Team and Denver University Teams review their entries from the Solar Decathlon!
