Best Practices for Small, Medium, and Large Data Centers

Overview: Dave will present a best practices approach for cooling small to medium data centers including cooling strategies that leverage the latest extended envelope of ASHRAE TC 9.9 committee’s “Thermal guidelines for data processing environments”. He will also discuss new cutting edge data center cooling technologies such as “direct liquid to chip” and “refrigerant to chip” cooling which can reduce cooling energy requirements. Dave will also touch on current and pending regulations that impact data center design.

Presenter: David C. Meadows II has worked in data center cooling since 1999. He is currently the Director of Technology with Stulz-ATS, a manufacturer of precision air conditioning, humidification, and dehumidification products specifically designed for the data center. Previously David has served as both the Design Engineering Manager and the Applications Engineering Manager at Stulz. He is a voting member of ASHRAE TC 9.9 as well as the SPC 127 and SSPC 90.4 committees. David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and is a graduate of the United States Navy Nuclear Power School.
