    System Effect: Fan inlet and outlet conditions

    Overview: Ever wonder why a particular system does not perform as expected?  In many cases the underperformance is due to system effect.  Learn how various inlet and outlet conditions affect fan, and overall system performance.  Witness a demonstration varying from ideal to worst case scenarios on an operating fan with live performance measurements.

    Mark Terzigni, is the Director of Engineering for SMACNA. He oversees the development of SMACNA’s technical manuals and applications (“Apps”). Other responsibilities include creating and maintaining relationships with industry organizations,  representing SMACNA at those organizations, developing technical webinars, CEU/PDH courses, and other educational programs for organizations such as ICC, ASHRAE, AIA, AHR Expo, and SMACNA. Prior to joining SMACNA, Mark was a Technical Service Engineer for McGill AirFlow, addressing technical issues regarding duct construction, design, sound attenuation, and leak testing. Prior to his role as a Technical Service Engineer, Mark was a Sales Engineer for McGill. Mr. Terzigni graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

    Pat Brooks is a Senior Project Manager for SMACNA, based in Cincinnati, OH.  Headquarters is in Chantilly VA. He has 35 years of direct experience include sales, engineering, and production management in the HVAC industry, specifically ductwork manufacturing. With a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from The Ohio State University, Pat was an industry leader in the factory-fabricated spiral duct market while working as a Director of Manufacturing for  McGill Airflow and as a General Manager for Eastern Sheet Metal.   He has written static regain duct design programs and is the chair of the subcommittee for ASHRAE’s Duct Design Guide.  Pat is also a member of TC5.2, the ASHRAE committee for Duct Design.  He is the Technical Chair for SPIDA. These positions have made Pat key in helping HVAC system designers everywhere understand and appreciate the energy efficiency advantages of proper duct design. His unique background allowed him to help representatives and now contractors to understand duct systems and how they should be installed and operated.  He travels around the country with SMACNA’s Technical Service Department giving seminars on duct design, construction and installation. Pat lives in Cincinnati area with his wife Jill.  In addition to being a devoted husband, he is the proud father of a daughter, son and is a grandfather of four beautiful grandchildren.
